We’re beyond excited to announce that we’ve partnered with 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞 (𝐍𝐈𝐇) to bring 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄 opportunities, 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄 added money, and even 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄 inclusivity to our barrel races!

This is something we’re incredibly proud to offer especially because it means 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 horse at Midland is now eligible for additional chances to win. Let’s break it all down for you:

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞?

The Non Incentive Horse (NIH) is a sidepot program created with one mission in mind, to support and reward riders of horses that are NOT currently enrolled in any barrel horse stallion incentive program. It’s been nicknamed:

“𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒍 𝑯𝒐𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑼𝒔.”

We know not every horse out there has incentive papers, and this program levels the playing field by giving those horses a shot at added money too. Whether you're running a grade horse, a young prospect, or a seasoned veteran who just doesn’t qualify for other incentives, this program is for YOU.

𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐒𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐬 — 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫

𝑁𝐼𝐻 𝑆𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑝𝑜𝑡 – 𝑁𝑜𝑛 𝐼𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝐻𝑜𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑠

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭:

• Are NOT enrolled in ANY barrel horse stallion incentive

• If under 5 years old: must NOT be eligible for any stallion incentive

• If 5 years or older: must NOT be enrolled in any incentive program

• Grade horses ARE eligible

• Horses of ANY age can be enrolled in NIH

𝑇𝑂𝐻 𝑆𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑝𝑜𝑡 – 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑂𝑝𝑒𝑛 𝐻𝑜𝑟𝑠𝑒

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 — 𝐀𝐍𝐘 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭:

• IS enrolled in a barrel horse stallion incentive program

• Any age, any incentive is welcome

𝐍𝐈𝐇- 𝐀𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐋 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐏𝐀𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐒:

• $750 Added Money

• $30 entry fee

• 90% payback on entry fees

• 100% payback on added money

• 4D Equal Payout

𝐓𝐎𝐇 𝐀𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐋 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐏𝐀𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐒:

• $250 Added Money

• $30 entry fee

• 90% payback on entry fees

• 100% payback on added money

• 4D Equal Payout

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤?

• You’ll roll your time from the Midland Open into the NIH or TOH sidepot

• You can enter just 1 day, 2 days, or all 3 days of the show — and if you run all 3, ALL your times count toward the sidepot payout!

• This is an umbrella-style sidepot — like Diamond Classic — meaning you can win multiple checks across multiple runs

• Payouts are done separately for NIH and TOH (two totally separate pots with separate winners and money)

• All winnings are paid directly to the person who enrolled the horse

• Results are posted by the Wednesday following the race

• Payouts are sent by Thursday via Venmo or check (as long as we have your current W9 on file!)

• The jockey does NOT have to be the owner — just make sure they’re listed on the sidepot entry form

𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 & 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫

To enter these sidepots, your horse must be enrolled in the NIH or TOH program — and it’s super easy:

$200 yearly buy-in fee per horse

Once enrolled, you’re eligible for ANY NIH or TOH sidepot at ANY participating show all year long

(Yes, this includes Falls Creek and other affiliate races — you’re not limited to just Midland!)
